Every house on your block has an address. An address uniquely identifies a house situated anywhere in the world - there is no confusion. The unique combination of house number, street name, city, and country can unambiguously identify any house on the planet. A similar analogy that comes to mind are phone numbers - every telephone line in the country has a unique telephone number. So when I call Bob across the street, I can be sure that I’m really calling Bob’s house; his phone number is unique. You get the point already! So, what is an IP Address? (more…)

New Cuil Search Engine

Cuil is the latest search engine to rival juggernaut Google. Pronounced “Cool,” Cuil claims to be able to find 3 times as many pages as Google can; as of today, 121617892992 webpages. This fact alone does not make Cuil a superior search engine. The vast majority of users are only looking at the first 10 results anyways, so anything beyond those lose their significance rapidly. Cuil’s management team claim the search engine ranks pages by their relevance as opposed to their subjective popularity. (more…)

E-Books come in a variety of file formats, but all share one common characteristic - there is no paper to be found in these books. E-Books are read on the computer, and are distributed via the internet. Some E-Books cost money - you must pay to download them.
