Inkjet printers have one thing going for them - they are dirt cheap. Big name stores usually give these things away nowadays. These things are so expensive that it borderlines robbery - do gas prices ring a bell? :-)

Other than the relatively small up front costs of purchasing an inkjet printer, they are nothing but a headache. The printing speed is slow, and the quality is only good on a good day! Its not uncommon for printouts to have streaks, gaps, and spaces. The ink cartridges tend to dry up if the printer is not used on a regular basis - the only thing worst than being robbed for ink is having to throw that ink in the garbage after it dries up. The bottom line with Inkjet printers - they use too much ink and its way to expensive to keep it operational.

TIP: If you are into digital photography, don’t try to print the pictures yourself; it’s simply not worth the money / hassle. The local walmart will do them for 19 cents a print, and at a much higher quality than any bargain inkjet printer could ever do.

Laser printers print at high speeds, with perfect quality every time. You never have to worry about the cartridges drying up - the ink is in a powdered state rather than a liquid! You will get huge mileage out of a laser cartridge, light years more than the best high yielding inkjet cartridge.
