Great of you to leave us your thoughts.

Education would definitely be a factor into the lack of maintenance performed on the average computer. I think its about perception too; many don't see a computer as a machine that requires maintenance... For whatever reason. As a comparison, there are many people who don't know the first thing about their vehicle. Even though there is a lack of education about the vehicle, there is still inherent wisdom that exists, along the lines of: I know this vehicle won't last forever... it will soon break down... and need to be serviced by a mechanic. Back to computers now... this wisdom does not seem to exist on the whole. Unfortunately many have had to experience this the hard way, and like you said... many times, it is too late for the data.

		<description>I couldn't agree with you more. People are storing precious memories on their computers and yet many don't take the time to care for their computers. It's an educational thing I guess. People don't learn until something bad happens and many times it's too late.
